This month is a grab bag ranging from core functionality and availability to quality of life changes to enterprise readiness.
Chat Inline Citations
Context awareness is the big reason why Codeium is able to give results grounded in existing code best practices, leading to the highest ratings across extension marketplaces. In Chat, we have historically allowed users to see what context items we pulled in across the entire repository to generate the response, but it was not clear which context items influenced what parts of the response. With chat inline citations, we are able to connect these dots by referencing the sources directly in the response:
SaaS Remote Indexing and Multi-repo Context Awareness
Remote indexing and multi-repo context awareness are features that allow for even more expanded context awareness, and are available for Enterprise Hybrid customers. Now, our Teams and Enterprise SaaS customers can also opt-in into these capabilities. For transparency, remote indexing on SaaS requires us to persist code snippets and derived information on Codeium servers to rapidly pull in relevant context, but as always, Codeium never trains on, shares, or otherwise uses customer IP for any reason other than providing the service to our customers. Reach out if you would like to opt in.
Jetbrains One-click Installer
For our Enterprise Hybrid customers, there is now a simple shell command to install the Jetbrains extension, which will complete all authentication, connection to your Codeium instance, and remaining setup automatically! This is now available on both Visual Studio Code and Jetbrains, and we will continue to expand this “one-click installer” to our other IDEs to minimize installation issues and time.
Jupyter Improvements
Our Chrome extension uniquely provides AI autocomplete capabilities in web IDEs, and data scientists have particularly enjoyed our integration into Jupyter notebooks. While not at feature parity with some of the standalone IDEs, we have undergone extensive engineering work to make the experience significantly smoother and minimize edge error cases.
XCode Chat
Continuing on the topic of extensions, we have enabled Codeium Chat on XCode! For the first time, iOS developers will have a potential AI tool with an integrated Chat experience.
Quality of Life improvements
Whether it is adding a retry button in Chat when there are transient errors or improvement in context fetching or making sure indexing works under high loads, we have shipped a long list of quality of life improvements to make sure that our users and enterprise administrators can focus on getting value from Codeium, not on worrying whether Codeium is working or not.
